لقي رجل سبعيني مصرعه إذ حملته السيول الجارفة إلى البحر، حين كان يكافح المياه محاولا الوصول إلى سيارته، في ذروة العاصفة القاتلة التي لا تزال متأججة جنوب شرق إسبانيا. وحملت المياه الجارفة جثة الضحية، ولفظتها على منتجع شاطئ كالا فينسترات بالقرب من بينيدورم، السبت، على الرغم من الجهود التي بذلتها الشرطة المحلية لإنقاذه، حسبما ذكره موقع "دياريو أنفورماسيون" الإسباني. والفيديو سجله شخص من شقة، عالية نسبيا، أظهرت رجلا يفقد توازنه ويسقط في الماء عند فتحه باب السيارة، قبل أن تجره المياه إلى البحر. هذا ووجد ضباط الحرس المدني جثة الرجل بعد 20 دقيقة. جدير بالذكر أن السلطات الإسبانية، وقبل وقوع تلك المأساة، حذرت من خطورة الظروف المناخية القاسية في كوستا بلانكا، علما أن الأمواج وصلت إلى 4 أمتار بالإضافة إلى هطول الأمطار وسرعة الرياح التي بلغت 80 كم في الساعة. وظلت التحذيرات الجوية إلى يوم الأحد، كما حذر خبراء الأرصاد الجوية أن الظروف سوف تستمر لـ24 ساعة أخرى.
