JOHN LEGEND JOINS ELITE EGOT CLUB AFTER WINNING AN EMMY

John Legend reached the status worthy of his last name this weekend when he became a member of the elite EGOT club. The famous singer made history by winning an Emmy for NBC’s  Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert . He became the first black man to reach EGOT status after adding an Emmy to his already full trophy shelf. Legend’s first Grammy victory came in 2006 when he collected awards for Best New Artist, Best R&B Album and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. It was just the beginning of his amazing run since he received additional seven awards in the years to come. Legend had to wait a little bit longer for the rest of his EGOT victories. He accepted Ava DuVernay’s invitation to write a song for her historical drama  Selma .
